KidsLink psychologists are experts in behavioral intervention for children, teens, and young adults with a variety of psychological and medical diagnoses. Treatment options for individual and family therapy include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP, and Habit Reversal Training (HRT).
1. Center for Autism Diagnostic Evaluation: Co-Directors-Dr. Lauren O’Hara & Dr. Amy Young
The Center for Autism Diagnostic Evaluation is staffed by Drs. O’Hara and Young. The Center offers evidence-based comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and assessment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related conditions. Data will be obtained regarding developmental, cognitive, adaptive, behavioral, and social-emotional functioning. Preschoolers will also meet with a speech and language therapist for further evaluation of language development. Results will be integrated into a comprehensive written report and intervention recommendations are offered. Please see our Autism Diagnostic Clinic handout for further details.
2. Center for Down Syndrome Assessment, Director- Dr. Amy Young
The Center for Down Syndrome Assessment will provide evidence-based, comprehensive assessments to identify individual areas of strength and weakness to assist with treatment and educational planning. Prior to joining KidsLink, Dr. Young was a psychologist in the Division of Developmental Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and an instructor at Harvard Medical School. She served as the staff psychologist for Boston Children’s Hospital’s Down Syndrome Program, where she conducted comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, behavioral consultation, treatment, and parent training. 3. Center for Pediatric OCD Diagnosis and Treatment*, Co-Directors Dr. Christopher Flessner & Dr. Andrea Burland
The Center for Pediatric Diagnosis and Treatment is staffed by Drs. Flessner and Burland. The Center offers evidence-based assessment and treatment of pediatric OCD and related conditions, including tic disorders, trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder), and other body-focused repetitive behaviors (i.e., skin picking, nail biting). With a focus upon evidence-based practices, Drs. Flessner and Burland place an emphasis upon cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) for the treatment of these conditions (i.e., exposure with responses prevention (ERP) for OCD, comprehensive behavioral intervention for tics (CBIT), habit reversal training (HRT) for trichotillomania).
4. Center for Pediatric Anxiety Disorders , Co-Directors- Dr. Lauren O’Hara & Dr. Andrea Burland
The Center for Pediatric Anxiety Disorders is co-directed by Drs. O’Hara and Burland. The Center offers evidence-based, comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and treatment of anxiety disorders, including social anxiety (social phobia), selective mutism, generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, agoraphobia, panic disorder (panic attacks). All interventions are evidence-based, with a strong emphasis upon cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) for the treatment of these conditions, which includes exposure with response prevention (ERP).
5. Center for ADHD Assessment & Treatment, Director-Dr. Lauren O’Hara
The Center for ADHD Assessment & Treatment is directed by Dr. Lauren O’Hara. The Center offers comprehensive, evidence-based diagnostic evaluations and treatment for children, adolescents and young adults struggling with inattention, hyperactivity, and/or poor impulse control. Evaluation will also include an assessment of conditions that often co-exist or mimic ADHD symptoms, such as anxiety, learning disabilities, conduct problems, and mood disorders. Results will be integrated into a comprehensive written report and intervention recommendations are offered.
6. Center for Adolescent Mood Disorders and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Dr. Lauren O’Hara
The Center for Adolescent Mood Disorders and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is directed by Dr. Lauren O’Hara. The Center provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and treatment of mood disorders and related conditions in teens and young adults, including depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, suicidality and self-harm, and emotional dysregulation. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that has been particularly efficacious for teens and young adults with intense emotions, disruptive and impulsive behaviors, and relationship challenges. It is also an evidenced-based treatment for individuals struggling with suicidality and self-harm. Teens will focus on learning skills in the areas of mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
